Blackwing Colors Pencil Set
I use coloring pencils all the time. No, unfortunately it’s not for “adult coloring books” that have become popular over the last several years. Instead I get to color charts, and color code different systems I use to keep track of data every day. When enjoying using pens and pencils of all kinds, it’s easy to overlook something so simple yet so important. The Blackwing Colors Pencil Set is exemplary of a quality color pencil that is very utilitarian.
These colored pencils are great if you’re writing about several topics and want to distinguish them easily by different colors. There are 12 unique, unmistakable colors in the Blackwing Colors Pencil Set to choose from: Pink, Red, Yellow, Orange, Light Green, Green, Light Blue, Blue, Violet, Brown, Black, and Silver. All 12 colors show up brilliantly on whatever paper you choose to use. I also love that they use “normal” names for the colors. This makes it quick and easy to identify.
Importantly, these colored pencils are made of excellent quality wood and wax. The wood is California Incense-cedar. The wax is a smooth Japanese wax core. The overall shape of the pencils is hexagonal, which I feel lends to their comfortable feel. Since this is the same shape and wood as their graphite wooden pencils, it’s easily sharpened with the Blackwing One Step Sharpener. You can also use the Blackwing Point Guard on them for portable protection. Speaking of comfort, the metal tip on the back end of the pencil is designed to add a little weight to the pencil, bringing more balance in the hand.
This incredible coloring pencil set comes in an appealing gift box. It has a clear viewing window for you to see the pencils through the magnetic cover flap. The clear plastic that covers the pencils is also easily removable and replaceable with a hole in the center of the plastic. This is great whether it’s a gift for you or for someone else.
