Blackwing Long Point Sharpener

The Blackwing Long Point Sharpener is one of the coolest pencil sharpeners I’ve seen in a long time. Palomino Blackwing, being a dedicated pencil company, knows what’s needed for sharpened precision perfection. Blackwing already wowed me with an easy to use two-stage sharpener. As soon as this Blackwing Long Point Sharpener came in, I had to try it.
First of all, the packaging and presentation is incredible. I love how pulling the tab greets you with this massive sharpener, nestled carefully between a four-sided foam padding.
Next, as I examine the Blackwing Long Point Sharpener itself, it strikes me as such a meticulously machined metal. It reminds me of a brand new camera lens. It has a decent heft as well. You know you’re not just getting some flimsy sharpener. The bottom is also flat, which makes it easy to stand up straight.
The “barrel” is hexagonal, so even if you leave the sharpener lying horizontally, it won’t roll off your workspace. The outer cap ring has an etched grip section, hence the camera lens comparison.
The blade and its housing unit sit comfortably in four evenly-spaced divots just above the threads on the barrel. Furthermore, it’s easily removable without having to hold the sharpener upside down. This avoids making a mess when you go to empty the barrel. Speaking of which, I was delighted to see such a spacious inner chamber. I hate having to empty a sharpener every time I use it. Now I get to enjoy several sharpenings before having to empty it. Talk about a time saver!
