Maiora Mytho Fountain Pen Collection
After the sad departure of Delta Pen Co. from the pen industry, many collectors miss their creativity, style, and design. Among Delta’s special and limited editions, their claim to fame was their Dolcevita line. It’s an iconic and easily recognizable pen design. A few years back, a new company called Maiora emerged. With the former principal behind Delta (Nino Marino) at the helm yet again, I was very excited to see what he would create. Imagine my delighted surprise to find the new Maiora Mytho Fountain Pen Collection. I love the similarity to the Delta Dolcevita collection. That’s not just for a sense of nostalgia either. The size, shape, and heft of these pens are so comfortable to hold and use for extended periods of time.
First, I should point out that unlike the Dolcevita line, the Maiora Mytho Fountain Pen Collection is only available as a fountain pen. The Mytho is a larger size pen (comparable to the Dolcevita Mid-size fountain pen), with slightly tapered ends on the cap and barrel. At the bottom of the clip is a rolling ball, which makes sliding in and out of your shirt pocket or pen case a breeze. Also on the cap is a traditional looking center ring with detailed engravings.
Secondly, there are three colors available in the Mytho Collection: Dama (white), Oronero (Black Gold), and Origine (Original Black & Orange). These colors are beautiful and brilliant. All three are shiny, and take on a personality of their own. Dama and Oronero have orange rings around the center band, while Origine has black rings.
Importantly, the Maiora Mytho fountain pens are available in both steel nib as well as 14k gold. Also, you can choose from: extra fine, fine, medium, broad, and stub in both metals. As for the filling mechanism, they employ a cartridge/captured converter filling mechanism. A captured converter means that you can either unscrew the blind cap on the barrel and fill your fountain pen like a piston filler, or you can unscrew the grip section and fill it that way.
