Parker Jotter XL Ballpoint

Reaching for a pen to take a few quick notes this morning, I found myself drawn to the Parker Jotter XL ballpoint. It’s convenient, and easy to use with a quick click-action retraction each time I paused in my writing. You may be wondering what inspired me to write about this pen? While going through my to-do list for the day, making notes with it and crossing things off the list, I found myself enjoying the Jotter XL more and more!
I’ve been using the standard refill that comes with it – a Parker brand ballpoint refill in blue medium – until it runs out. Not a bad refill either! But my preference lies with the Monteverde Parker Style Superbroad ballpoint, or their broad gel for even more smooth writing! So, as I’m using the “standard stock equipped” XL ballpoint, I find it’s a great writing experience. It’s definitely going into my everyday rotation more often!
The iconic Parker Jotter ballpoint has been around since the late ’50’s/early ’60’s. Known for being a very inexpensive pen with exceptional quality and value, it’s popularity has grown exponentially over the years. Of course this pen comes in many different finishes and materials.
The most recent change to the Jotter is making it 7% bigger. You may be thinking the same thing I did – that 7% is a very specific number, and how much of a difference can it make? Well, surprisingly, it’s a substantial difference. It’s a little bit thicker, and a little bit longer. If you like a medium size pen, this is the one for you.
Also, the construction is different. It’s made entirely of steel with a lacquer finish over the bottom half of the barrel. Coming in four different colors (black, blue, green, and grey), my favorite is the green. Of course the proper color names are different: Richmond Black, Primrose Blue, Alexandra Grey, and Greenwich Green.
The Parker Jotter XL ballpoint comes in a small gift box, which a lot of people will find convenient. It comes in handy, especially when you need to get a quick gift for someone.
This timeless pen is something that most ballpoint users will enjoy getting their hands on. I sure love mine!
