ST Dupont Dragon Scales Pen Collection
Keeping in theme with last week’s blog review, here’s an intricately detailed beauty of a pen celebrating the Lunar New Year. Newly introduced is the ST Dupont Dragon Scales Pen Collection. I can’t begin to do justice in explaining how ornate these pens are. However, the pictures below definitely do the collection justice. While S.T. Dupont doesn’t explicitly say these are a limited edition, I can’t imagine it’s an open ended series. First of all, the ST Dupont Dragon Scales Pen Collection presents a modern and festive collection to celebrate the Year of the Dragon in the Lunar New Year. The line includes writing instruments (Line D Eternity), lighters (Line 2 and Jet), and cigar accessories. These unique pieces combine boldness, modernity, and timeless beauty.
Secondly, the Year of the Dragon collection draws inspiration from contemporary artists like Yayoi Kusama and her infamous polka dots and playful dragons from the world of Anime and street art alike. S.T. Dupont master-craftsmen utilize a printed lacquer technique for this collection to animate the colorful dragon portrayed on each pen and lighter.
Above all, this is available as a multifunction fountain pen/rollerball combination. Therefore, you’re essentially getting two pens in one. The barrel includes two sections: a fountain pen section and a rollerball section. The fountain pen section comes with a newly designed S.T. Dupont 14kt gold nib featuring a “wing design”. Choose from: Fine, Medium, and Broad nib widths. The fountain pen uses cartridges, or fills from a bottle of ink using a converter. The rollerball takes an S.T. Dupont rollerball refill. Little known is that you can also use the Lamy M63 rollerball refill.
Finally, there are two colors to choose from: Bugundy with Gold Trim, and Black with Palladium Trim. I think of them like “before” and “after” colors. Burgundy is like fire, and Black is like ash. Both are so gorgeous, and the artwork stands out brilliantly against both background colors.
