Aurora 100th Anniversary Cento Fountain Pen
To celebrate their 100th anniversary, Aurora went all out and created special anniversary limited editions in each of their pen collections. As you can imagine, reaching 100 years in business is no small feat! So, it only makes sense to commemorate the best way possible – with these limited editions that are certain to appeal to the masses. Representing 10 decades, Aurora released 10 pens (all part of the Cento collection). This includes the Talentum, Thesi, Tu, Hastil, Giuseppi Verdi, Optima Riflessi, Ipsilon Quadra, 88, and Edo. The tenth and final pen is the Aurora 100th Anniversary Cento Red Fountain Pen.
This fountain pen is fit to be declared a masterpiece. It’s similar in size and shape to the Aurora Oceano series, yet with very different and spectacular attributes. First of all is the material. The trim is solid Sterling Silver. The cap and barrel both have a “flame” guilloche pattern underneath a red, glazed lacquer. This immediately reminds me of the Montblanc Boheme Paso Doble collection, except this is much larger and more majestic than the Boheme.
The Aurora 100th Anniversary Cento Red Fountain Pen has a newly redesigned cabochon top, a new ring, and new bottom of the barrel. Of course, a pen of this caliber has an 18k gold nib, available in extra fine, fine, medium, broad, double broad, stub, and italic.
Since I can attest to what a difference this nib makes in writing with my Aurora Oceano Indiano, it is so much more amazing than I had imagined. It’s a softer nib than I knew Aurora could make, and has the slightest bit of springiness. This is a polar opposite from the stiffer 14k nibs on the Ipsilon Deluxe, Talentum, and Optima. Importantly, it’s a piston filler, making it easy to draw in your favorite inks from a bottle. Combining this functionality (the nib and the piston) with the heft of it being a heavier pen, having a small ink viewing window, and an ebonite feed, this merges elegance with everyday carry.
Limited to 919 numbered pieces, this 100th Anniversary Cento fountain pen comes in a luxury gift box. It’s made with black lacquered wood, with black interior, and a commemorative sleeve. Included is also a small, but special bottle of Aurora ink.
