Blackwing Volume 192 Tribute to Lennon And McCartney Pencils

For my first blog of 2023, I’m so excited to write about the new Blackwing Volume 192 Tribute to Lennon And McCartney Pencils! These pencils are very well-thought out. As we know about the Blackwing company, they’re really passionate about music. Therefore, it makes sense that they’d create another Volumes edition that’s music related.

First of all, the Blackwing Volume 192 Tribute to Lennon And McCartney Pencils are also a tribute to the estimated 192 songs they wrote together. Importantly, a different Lennon-McCartney lyric is foil stamped on each pencil. Of course, this means a total of twelve different lyrics in the set. I like how meaningful these selected lyrics are.

Secondly, the color prism design depicts the convergence of two powerful creative forces. Although, I feel like these colors should’ve been more prominent in the overall color scheme. As songwriters, Lennon and McCartney complimented each other expertly. Paul’s lyrics often evoked brightness and joy, while John’s supplied a more melancholy spirit. The result is a catalog of authentic songs that touch on a wide spectrum of the human experience.

Unfortunately, these pencils use extra-firm graphite. I know this is very subjective, but I prefer softer graphite overall. Granted, the Blackwing firm and extra firm graphite is better than most others. It’s not nearly as brittle as others that I’ve used. Keeping in theme with the pencil’s colors, the ferrule is black and silver, while the eraser is white.

John Lennon and Paul McCartney combined to write some of the most enduring lyrics of all time. Their songs are ubiquitous, appealing to young and old, from generation to generation. Together, they have influenced the craft of songwriting in immeasurable ways. I can’t wait to see what Blackwing creates next for us!
