Caran d'Ache Nespresso Limited Edition 4 Pencils
Share
A few blog reviews ago, I talked about the Caran d’Ache Nespresso Limited Edition 4 Ochre Fixpencil (you can see the review here). You can clearly tell I’m a fan of Caran d’Ache’s pencils in general, and their new additions are no exception. As for the team-up with Nespresso, for this 4th edition Caran d’Ache released two types of pencils. The first being the aforementioned Ochre Fixpencil, and the second is the set of three Swiss Wood pencils. These Caran d’Ache Nespresso Limited Edition 4 Pencils are presented in completely recycled and recyclable cardboard packaging. I love how much quality is packed into the set.
First of all, I should preface that I’m not a big fan of light shades of graphite (i.e. H, 2H, 3H, 4H, 5H, and 6H). The harder the graphite, the less I enjoy it generally. With this Swiss Wood set, the Caran d’Ache Nespresso Limited Edition 4 Pencils are made with recycled Nespresso coffee grounds, which seems to make the graphite leave a lighter mark on paper than I prefer. In other words, if you prefer graphite that leans in the direction of harder grades then this one is for you.
Secondly, unlike the Caran d’Ache Maison scented pencils, these have a very earthy fragrance. Since the wood is made from FSC Swiss beach wood, that fragrance isn’t very surprising. I love all the effort both Caran d’Ache and Nespresso puts into making sure as much of the pencil is made from recycled material as possible. Furthermore, the top of the pencil is adorned with three colors of Nespresso metallic capsules: pink, green, and gold.
Finally, with respect to the overall balance and shape of these wonderful pencils, you’ll find them quite comfortable in the hand. The hexagonal shape is pleasant to hold. Overall they’re very well balanced and uniform. Also, since these pencils aren’t coated with a glossy finish, they’re easy to grip and not worry about them slipping in your fingers. I can’t wait to see what Caran d’Ache does next for the Nespresso L.E. 5!
