Delta Pen Company Returns

Here’s a sentence I didn’t think I’d be writing: the Delta Pen Company returns! Imagine my delighted surprise to see the official letter from Yafa that the Delta Pen Company returns in 2022. Delta pens are an integral part to pen collecting history. As with many pen companies, Delta is known for both regular edition pens and limited edition pens. Bert even has some pre-owned limited editions in the shop now from various collections. It’s always nostalgic to see them come through.
First of all, the pictures in this blog are examples from my collection, and are not the ones Bert has for sale. I tried to show as wide of a range as possible of Delta’s limited editions as well as some “standard staples”.
Secondly, did you know that Bertram’s Inkwell always had a great working relationship with Delta Pen? This is significant because with each of the Delta Indigenous Peoples series (among other collections), Bertram’s Inkwell had an exclusive limited edition in vermeil.
Importantly, the Delta Indigenous Peoples series is known for paying tribute to all the indigenous people across the globe. Each was represented beautifully with ornate detail. Delta did the same incredible detail and craftsmanship for important historical figures (i.e. the Julius Caesar and Enrico Caruso as in the pictures).
Noteworthy is Delta’s standard everyday line: the Dolcevita. This collection is perhaps one of the most recognizable in the industry with its unique orange and black color scheme. There were a few color variations within the Dolcevita line. Yet all were made with four different fountain pen body sizes (oversize, medium, mini, and stout). There were also tons of nib options. Then the collection continued with rollerball, eco roller, ballpoint, and mechanical pencil.
As for the different Dolcevita color options, first was the black cap with an orange body. Of course, who can forget the Oro that followed? An all-orange pen is definitely bold. The Masterpiece took this black and orange concept and turned the resin into swirls combining both colors. Delta also made the Dolcevita with the inverse color scheme of all black with orange rings for those who prefer an understated look. Of course, there were also special versions with an all-white cap and barrel, among other color options. There was even a demonstrator version which I think was really cool.
Known for making pens with unique materials, shapes, and designs, Delta really was creative with each collection. I’d say one of the best examples of this is the Delta Momo Design 30th Anniversary Collection. What made this so special is the wide range of materials used: carbon fiber, celluloid, Sterling Silver, and the fountain pen had a titanium nib.
Finally, with Nino Marino’s creative genius at the helm again, I’m so excited to see what he brings back with Delta Pen in 2022. He’s been very active with his Maiora Pen Company, bringing wonderful quality pens to the industry while we’ve waited for this moment to arrive. Between Delta Pen coming back and also being distributed by Yafa, this has been a long time coming.
