Diplomat Aero Green Pen Collection
This is my favorite time in the life of a pen collection. It’s long after a pen first comes out in more traditional colors. Upon plenty of success with those colors, the brand branches out little by little with more adventurous colors. Until they do the smartest thing of all – they make the pen in green! As is the case with the newest from Diplomat – the Diplomat Aero Green Pen Collection. I’ve been a fan of the Aero almost since it first came out almost ten years ago. Admittedly, the color scheme has grown on me so much more since the original matte brown and matte grey finishes. But the design of the Aero has always been unique and wonderful.
First, the Diplomat Aero Green Pen Collection is a darker green. I was a little surprised that it wasn’t brighter green since they’ve made some bold color choices in purple, flame, Volute, etc.. But I love how this green is classy, classic, and professional, yet still so much fun. This dark green anodized aluminum finish says “I mean business” while also saying “I’m creative”.
Second, the Aero in green is a regular edition, which means it will stay in the collection for a long time to come. I’m so happy about this. If this collection was a limited edition, less people would have a chance to own one.
In terms of internal mechanisms, inks and refills, and filling systems, nothing changed from other color variants of the Diplomat Aero Collection. The fountain pen is still available in either a 14k gold or steel nib. Furthermore, you still can choose from: extra fine, fine, medium, and broad. Since it uses an international cartridge/converter filling system, I’d recommend pairing it with a matching ink like Monteverde’s Yosemite ink. Or contrasting the pen with Monteverde’s Purple Reign ink would look great.
The rollerball still uses a standard Schmidt 888 or 5888 rollerball refill. As you may have guessed by now, the ballpoint still uses the Monteverde Parker Style ballpoint or gel refills. Last but not least, the mechanical pencil still uses a .7mm mechanism.
What I really love about the Diplomat Aero in general is how comfortable all four modes of writing are to use. Despite being made entirely of anodized aluminum, they’re not too heavy in the hand. However, they retain the durability and strength of an all-metal pen since aluminum is virtually indestructible. The perfectly tapered and smoothly contoured lines running all along the pen’s body provides perfect balance and comfort. The Aero makes writing easier in every way.
