Diplomat Excellence A+ Bauhaus Pen Collection
Share
For those of you who are unfamiliar with the Staatliches Bauhaus (more commonly known as just Bauhaus), it is a prominent German art school. Until seeing pen models with Bauhaus in the name, I wasn’t familiar with it at all. But seeing the relevance of having uniquely artistic designs on pens as homage to the Bauhaus art school, it makes sense. The Bauhaus school became famous for its approach to design. They tried to combine principles of mass production with unique individual artistic vision. Their attempt to combine aesthetics with everyday function makes it the perfect platform for applying to the new Diplomat Excellence A+ Bauhaus Pen Collection.
As Bauhaus had such a major historical impact on art and architecture worldwide, it’s easy to see how this Bauhaus themed pen, the Diplomat Excellence A+ Bauhaus Pen Collection, can inspire creativity across the globe. Therefore the colors and patterns of this pen definitely make it unique from others in its class. I love how the alternating red, blue, and yellow checkers stand out among the black checkers in the background. In other words, it’s a really sharp contrast.
Importantly, this tribute to the 100th anniversary of the Bauhaus movement is a special edition run. The already enjoyable Diplomat Excellence A+ pen collection is made even more fun with this design. Available in all four modes: fountain pen, rollerball, ballpoint, and mechanical pencil, there are plenty of options to bring out anyone’s vision. It’s noteworthy that the clip is a strong, spring-loaded clip. Also, the cap on the fountain pen and rollerball is threaded for easy twisting on and off of the barrel.
First, the fountain pen is available with either a steel or 14k gold nib. As for nib sizes, you can choose from extra fine, fine, medium, and broad. Just as with a majority of the Diplomat fountain pens, you’re able to fill this with an international size cartridge/converter filling system. What ink would you use? I’d love to contrast these colors with Monteverde’s Sweet Life Keylime Pie ink.
Secondly, the rollerball is refillable with Schmidt 888 or 5888 rollerball refills. In addition, this rollerball is perfectly balanced in the hand whether you post the cap or not. Thirdly is the ballpoint. I love its smooth twist-action retraction. You can easily customize refills with the Monteverde Parker Style ballpoint or gel replacement refills.
Last but not least is the mechanical pencil. I love a high-quality twist-action mechanical pencil. And its .7mm lead is perfectly “middle-of-the-road” in terms of width. It’s not too thin where it breaks off every few minutes, and it’s not too thick which can make it harder to use for everyday writing situations.
