Esterbrook JR Paradise Fountain Pen

Esterbrook JR Paradise Fountain Pen

This summer has been a scorcher. As hot as it’s been, we’re able to keep cool with so many new pens coming out. Here to help with this is the new Esterbrook JR Paradise Fountain Pen. These colors are so fresh that it’s like a soothing cocktail. After the success of the Esterbrook JR fountain pen collection (see my review here), I’m happy to see this refreshing look on an already wonderful reboot. The first modernized collection already had me so impressed that I got two of the three colors right away. As soon as I saw the lineup for the Esterbrook JR Paradise Fountain Pen collection, I knew these would be so fun to own. I can’t wait to get all three in this new collection.

First of all, this is an unnumbered limited edition. I like how that makes the Esterbrook JR Paradise Fountain Pen collection even more exclusive, and potentially fleeting like the summer wind. These pens will truly brighten your day with such cheerful colors. As you can see, Esterbrook has done a fantastic job with pairing these pens with vibrant, tropical resins.

Secondly, for a pen originally labeled as the JR Pocket Pen, these are so comfortable to hold in the hand. These pens are not so tiny like you might imagine with that name. Even with its thinner profile and slim barrel, the JR Paradise fountain pens are still substantial. They’re definitely made with your eventual experience writing with them in mind. In terms of weight, there’s a respectable amount of heft to this pen.

Interestingly, the JR Paradise’s streamlined and sleek design makes this pen so portable. The JR Paradise fits easily in the shirt or pants pocket, purse, and anywhere else you might want to hold it in transport. While I don’t post the cap when writing, this pen does have that capability.

Notably, with three color choices, I like how they all tie in together. The Lemon Twist and Orange Sunset have the same blue resin as the Blue Breeze on the top cap ring. The Blue Breeze has the same yellow resin as the Lemon Twist on the top cap ring. I think that the Lemon Twist would pair nicely with Monteverde’s Mango Mousse ink. The Orange Sunset would pair nicely with Monteverde’s Fireopal ink. Lastly, I think that the Blue Breeze would pair nicely with Monteverde’s Caribbean Blue ink.

Finally, the Esterbrook JR Paradise Fountain Pen uses a cartridge/converter filling system (like the JR Pocket Pen). It’s equipped with the high-quality steel JoWo nib that we’ve come to enjoy on new Esterbrook fountain pens. Choose from: extra fine, fine, medium, broad, and 1.1 stub.
