Esterbrook Nook Navy Pen Case
Buying a new writing instrument is a process. We think about the many characteristics our new pen needs to have in order to meet our requirements. Everything from design to functionality, and aesthetics to how it feels in the hand while putting pen to paper, influences our decision. It’s a big decision, and often times, a major investment. It doesn’t matter whether you’re a newer collector or a veteran that has many pens in your collection. We all go through the same process (more or less). So, then why wouldn’t we also immediately think about protecting this investment? When bringing a pen back from the store, or opening that package from the mail containing your newest writing instrument, it usually comes in a “gift box”. But don’t let that prevent you from thinking of a long term solution for keeping your pens safe. Hopefully you won’t take that “gift box” with you everywhere. That’s why it’s logical to get a pen case. There are many variations of pen cases depending on your needs. I take my pens and pencils with me everywhere I go, so it’s important to me that they’re protected from being scratched or banged around. That’s why I’m excited about the Esterbrook Nook Navy Pen Case. I know my pens will be safe and secure in it everywhere I go.
The first round of pen cases from Esterbrook looked wonderful in a light brown leatherette. They were functional in protecting the pens, and looked great while doing so. The main concern with it was how the pens had some “wiggle room” in the larger cases. Esterbrook took care of this in the Navy Nook by adding an elastic strap going across the middle of all the cases. This keeps your pen(s) securely in place, no matter how thick or thin your pen is. Not only that, each slot now has individual cushioned sections as well.
The other change is how to access your pens. Previously, you had to slide the cover all the way off. Personally, I didn’t like this as much. Now, with an easy snap of the button on the flap, you have quick access to your pens. This feels so much more efficient to me. When I’m writing, I need to be able to switch between pens and pencils rapidly so as to not lose my train of thought or miss out on important notes.
As for the aesthetics, the Esterbrook Nook Navy Pen Case is a wonderfully deep shade of Navy Blue. I like the contrasting red stitching around the borders. Also, the inner lining is simplistic in design. It’s mainly red (matching the stitching), with the Esterbrook Eternity symbol.
