Field Notes Wilco Paper

Bertram’s Inkwell first got Field Notes paper back when we were still in White Flint Mall. It was a great new alternative to Moleskine and Rhodia paper. We were always on the lookout for something new and different. Field Notes is simple. They have a pack of three pocket sized books that are very portable. Continuing with simplicity, they offer three choices: lined, ruled, and graph. Over time, they branched out with different cover styles and options. They also added a dot grid option as that became popular. Then limited editions became highly sought after. The Field Notes Wilco Paper is their latest limited edition, and is very cool to say the least!
The Field Notes Wilco Paper is a boxed set of six memo books. In addition, each has a different cover design, and comes in a really fun commemorative (and protective) outer box.
For those of you who are not familiar (as I wasn’t), Wilco is an American alternative rock band based in Chicago, IL. They formed in 1994, and released ten studio albums, one live double album, and four collaborations.
Therefore Field Notes paired each member of Wilco with an exceptional artist, and gave them a limited palette of colors with which to create the unique cover designs for.
Most importantly, all six books are made of French Construction 100# “Grout Gray” covers with red, blue, and yellow spot inks. The paper itself is Finch Opaque 60# “Bright White” text-weight with a light gray dot-grid. The set is packaged in a durable, custom-made slipcase that’s been constructed with the same paper and ink for a perfect match.
Finally, each book has 48 pages of this smooth paper. Consequently it’s really fun to write on, and I always have a Field Notes book with me! It’s smaller travel size of 3.5″ x 5.5″ has come in handy so many times!
