Kaweco Sport Dark Olive Limited Edition Fountain Pen

Kaweco has done it again. They just released another “hit” limited edition in their Sport line. The new Kaweco Sport Dark Olive Limited Edition Fountain Pen is exactly what I hoped it would be. As much as I love the previous recent L.E. Kaweco AL Sport Golden Espresso and Vibrant Violet, this new Kaweco Sport Dark Olive Limited Edition Fountain Pen is a delightful shade of green. Of course, with green being my favorite color, I’m definitely biased toward this pen (so much that I bought 5 of them – one in each nib size). I can only hope that Kaweco makes more green limited editions moving forward.

First of all, this Dark Olive green is a very calm and subdued color. I like how the shiny resin lets you still appreciate the shade of green even as light reflects off of it. I recommend filling it with Monteverde’s Olivine ink to match, or Monteverde’s Birthday Cake ink to contrast.

Secondly, this Kaweco Sport is available in five nib sizes: extra fine, fine, medium, broad, and double broad. I love how many options there are for different nib widths depending on your needs. This fountain pen is equipped with Kaweco’s standard high-quality steel nib.

Next up is accessorizing your new pen. You have the option of using a clip or no clip. If you want to add on a clip (see them all here), you can choose between buying the standard clip or the deluxe clip. The standard clip comes in chrome and gold plated, while the deluxe comes in chrome, gold plated, bronze, and black. As far as filling your pen, these Kaweco Sport fountain pens use a standard international size cartridge. You also have the option of using their squeeze converter or their slide converter (see them here). I far prefer their slide converter for optimal ink filling.

Finally, the only thing I wish was different on this pen is the imprint. I like the gold color backfill on the imprint. However, it only says “Kaweco Collection”, and nothing to indicate the name or distinguish it as a limited edition. The Golden Espresso has the imprint of its name, while the Vibrant Violet also does not.
