Kaweco Sport Piston Filler Fountain Pen
So many new pens have been released since my last blog, and I’m going to catch you all up asap. I’ve been truly busy working hard at getting our new website in working order before releasing it, but I’m sorry I haven’t shared new writing instruments with you all in a while. This first pen in the series of updates is the new Kaweco Sport Piston Filler Fountain Pen. We’ve all been waiting for this one for a while now, and I’m so excited that it’s here!
First of all, the Kaweco Sport Piston Filler Fountain Pen is available as a starter set for ready-to-use use with a 32ml ink bottle in the color royal blue or as a pure writing instrument without additional ink. However, I feel like the starter set is the right way to go. As soon as I opened mine, I was blown away immediately by the presentation. Even the gift box packaging is so fun (and impressive). I like the tin it comes in, and the attention to detail. Above all, take note that the body of the pen is aluminum, so it’s technically more of an AL-Sport piston filler. Some pictures and/or screen resolution may make it seem like a resin, but it’s not.
In a time of fast pace and hectic pace, the piston filler offers the opportunity to slow down and show the world from a different perspective. Precisely filling the writing instrument using an ink jar is quickly celebrated as a ritual and is an essential part of an incomparable writing experience for all prolific writers.
The history of Kaweco goes back to 1883. Over time there have been many different systems for filling a fountain pen. While ink cartridges are the most popular these days, the piston mechanism can be used to draw the ink directly from the glass into the integrated ink chamber of the fountain pen. This makes ink cartridges obsolete.
The Kaweco Sport piston fountain pen is the smallest of its kind. This is due to the sophisticated and compact mechanics in the ratio of pen size to ink filling volume. Importantly, this iconic pocket fountain pen is only 10.5 cm when closed. It grows to a normal size of 13 cm when the cap is replaced. The small size makes it ideal for traveling and ensures a long and pleasant writing experience.
The ink level can be viewed at all times via the transparent ink window. If the ink is used up, the piston fountain pen can be refilled quickly and easily. This is thanks to the particularly smooth filling mechanism. This filling system also allows the use of inks in an unmatched variety of colors. There are many ink colors that are only bottled in jars. Choose your nib size from: extra fine, fine, medium, broad, and double broad. Of course I got the double broad.
Finally, the matte anodized surface of the robust aluminum housing is extremely durable. It gives the pen a high-quality feel. The perfect balance between weight and diameter of the fountain pen also ensures that the hand does not tire even after long periods of writing. By combining it with golden decorative elements, the functionality is expanded with stylish elegance and thus combines traditional filling methods with the modern age.
