Laban Gloria Pen Collection
Share
Every once in a while there’s a pen collection that is so striking that it makes you stop and take notice. I don’t believe that a pen has to be ornately decorated to achieve this effect. In fact, sometimes simplicity is best. When your new pen has one solid color done well, it helps you appreciate its depth and boldness so much more. Especially as the holiday season approaches, I tend to keep an eye out for great gift opportunities such as this. The newer Laban Gloria Pen Collection is an example of such an exquisite writing instrument.
First of all, the Laban Gloria Pen Collection is available in two colors so far: Ruby Red and Sapphire Blue. I’m lucky to have both in my collection because pictures don’t do enough justice to how beautiful these pens are. It’s important to note how the cap and barrel of each pen is engraved with an endless diamond shaped guilloche pattern. The reason this is important is because that guilloche pattern provides an unobtrusive and comfortable texture. Equally important is how it also increases the way light reflects off the body of your Laban Gloria pen.
Secondly, in terms of size and shape, this pen resembles the S.T. Dupont Diamond Guilloche, Waterford Claria and the Cross Townsend. Yet the Laban Gloria Pen Collection leaves the Claria and Townsend in the dust. The Gloria has plenty of heft, and so much more depth, quality, and value overall. Also the thinner barrel size means that it fits into your organizer, pen case, etc. so easily. Its all-metal construction means that your Laban Gloria is durable. On the fountain pen and rollerball, even the threads are metal.
Moreover, the Laban Gloria Pen Collection is comprised of a fountain pen, rollerball, and ballpoint pen. All three modes have a solid clip which you can easily feel its durable construction. The fountain pen is available in your choice of extra fine, fine, medium, and broad nib sizes. It’s a steel nib, and I love the way the broad nib on mine writes. Enjoy filling the fountain pen with your favorite inks via standard international size cartridge/converter. I’d recommend using Monteverde’s Napa Burgundy with the Gloria Ruby Red. With the Gloria Sapphire Blue, I recommend using Monteverde’s Horizon Blue. As an attention to detail, I was impressed with Laban’s O-ring fitted inside the pen. This provides an airtight seal.
Finally, both the fountain pen and rollerball are equipped with gold-plated brass grip sections. I love the way it feels in my hand. Even with extended use, it didn’t slip. The rollerball is refillable with Schmidt 888 or 5888 rollerball refills. As for the ballpoint, it’s as big of a hit as the fountain pen. Enjoy one-handed use with its smooth twist-action retraction. It’s perfectly balanced in the hand, and refills with Monteverde Parker Style ballpoint or gel refills. This ballpoint is a perfect corporate gift.
