Monteverde Regatta Demo Rainbow Fountain Pen
Share
Monteverde continues to “up their game” with each year that passes. Better quality nibs and materials, and unique designs and themes make Monteverde pens continually more desirable. I love their Regatta model in most of the colors available. As the Regatta always features carbon fiber in alternating bands along the cap and barrel, for me it’s a no-brainer to get each next color. The new Monteverde Regatta Demo Rainbow Fountain Pen is no exception.
First of all, this Monteverde Regatta Demo Rainbow Fountain Pen is lighter than its siblings due to the demonstrator part of the pen. Importantly, the alternating bands of crystal clear resin between the carbon fiber bands reduce the weight of this pen drastically. Also, since there are so many other colors at play (including the demo aspect), it makes the rainbow accents even more appealing.
Secondly, it’s not so bold as other anodized rainbow pens, and therefore I like it much more. The clip, grip section, back end of the pen, and a few thin rings on the cap and barrel comprise the rainbow finish. I like how I’m not worried about leaving fingerprints or smudges on this pen.
Noteworthy is the nib is a high-quality JoWo steel nib. Unfortunately, the nib isn’t anodized like the pen. However, you still have a ton of nib size options. Choose from: extra fine, fine, medium, broad, stub, and Omniflex. Can you imagine a beautiful blue or purple ink coming from this pen? I’d recommend using Monteverde’s Sweet Life Birthday Cake ink as a matching purple. It fills via standard international size cartridge and converter filling system.
Finally, this Regatta is a limited edition of 1999 pieces. It’s available as both fountain pen and rollerball. This way you have plenty of options to choose from. Both versions have a strong magnetic cap that securely attaches to both ends of the pen. The rollerball uses Schmidt 888 and 5888 refills.
