What happens when you combine winning components from several different pen models? You get Pineider Full Metal Jacket Pens. Pineider is spectacular at creating new, innovative writing instruments. Upon retiring the La Grande Bellezza Gemstone colors, the Full Metal Jacket line is born. I’m sure Ken Jones, fan of rock music, had nothing to do with naming this collection! However, yes, it is named after the Stanley Kubrick film “Full Metal Jacket”. Brand new for 2020, the Pineider Full Metal Jacket Pens are full of personality and luxurious options.
First of all, the Full Metal Jacket has the same body and profile of the La Grande Bellezza pens. The differences lie in the material, colors, nib options and filling system for the fountain pen. Thankfully, the rollerball uses the standard Schmidt 888 or 5888 rollerball refills, and the ballpoint uses the Parker Style ballpoint or gel refill. As usual, we recommend the Monteverde Double Broad ballpoint refill for added smoothness.
The La Grande Bellezza pens show a wide variety of shiny colors across the spectrum. In contrast, the Pineider Full Metal Jacket pens offer six color choices. They all have a metallic effect on the pen’s surface, alluding to its name. There’s Army Red, Lightning Blue, Sugar Paper (also blue), Midnight Black, Ash Grey, and Coal Grey. Personally, I would enjoy more of a variety of colors, but then how metal would that be? Though, I’m sure by now we all know I just want a green option, haha! Regardless of the colors, all six feature Pineider’s virtually unbreakable Ultra Resin.
Also, the fountain pen has two types of nib options. Either you choose the steel nib, or the 14k hyperflex nib. Importantly, if you choose the steel nib, it uses a cartridge/converter filling system. Whereas the 14k hyperflex nib uses a convenient piston filling system and free easy filler.
You can’t go wrong with the Pineider Full Metal Jacket pens. These are sure to keep you writing, and enjoying as you do!
