Platinum #3776 Century Fountain Pen

Platinum Pen has a rich history of providing high quality writing instruments at affordable prices. Over a century old (originating in 1919), Platinum Pen continues to innovate design, form, and function. This is the case with the Platinum #3776 Century Fountain Pen. Platinum revamped the #3776 Century several years ago, and added several features to the line. The original #3776 series was designed by the design team at Platinum Pen, alongside the (late) writing expert Haruo Umeda.
First of all, I truly enjoy using mine, as you can see from my lineup of older and newer #3776 Century fountain pens in the following pictures. You can tell which one is the most recent version of the Platinum #3776 Century fountain pen because it’s a little larger and thicker than its predecessors, has more threads on the grip section, and a raised cap band.
One of the most important features of the #3776 Century is being equipped with their “Slip & Seal” technology. This technology allows you to leave ink inside the pen for months at a time, while keeping the ink fresh and ready for use as soon as you pick it up again.
Secondly, the Platinum #3776 Century fountain pen is sleek and has a mid-size shape. It’s very light in the hand, which makes it easy to take notes all day and not tire from it. Importantly, this fountain pen is balanced perfectly whether you post the cap or not.
Notably, if you like options, this is the pen for you. Available in several colors and nib sizes, you can’t go wrong. As for color options, you can choose from: Carnelian, Black with Gold Trim (or Rhodium Trim), Chenonceau White with Gold Trim, Laurel Green with Gold Trim (or Rhodium Trim), Chartres Blue with Gold Trim (or Rhodium Trim), and Bourgogne with Gold Trim (or Rhodium Trim). These are rich colors in a solid resin cap and barrel.
Finally, the nib options are: Ultra Extra Fine, Extra Fine, Fine, Soft Fine, Medium, Broad, and C (Coarse, or Double Broad). As someone who uses all of these nib grades, I love these options. And if you order any of the more specialized nibs, please allow plenty of time for shipping as these might take longer to get in. In terms of value, this is one of the few pens under $300 that comes standard with a 14k gold nib. Last but not least, your #3776 Century fills via Platinum’s cartridge or converter filling system.
