Stipula Etruria Wild Honey Fountain Pen
Larger size pens feel so comfortable in the hand. Not because they are sometimes heavier, but just because the overall feel is substantial. I love it when I’m holding a pen that feels like it’s as powerful as the words I write. The Stipula Etruria Wild Honey Fountain Pen gives that exact feeling. The Etruria is a larger size pen, and is shaped like a cigar. I’ve always enjoyed Stipula’s attention to detail, and the Wild Honey fountain pen is no exception.
First of all, the Etruria model is named after a region of Italy that in ancient times was called “Etruria”. The Etruria pen draws inspiration for its design from Tuscan roots. Therefore, the Stipula Etruria Wild Honey Fountain Pen is made from high-grade Italian resin that I imagine resembles fine Italian marble. As you might imagine, the Wild Honey resin looks like freshly solidified honey straight from the source as a gorgeous darker amber color.
Secondly, the Stipula Etruria Wild Honey Fountain Pen uses a cartridge/converter filling system. I like how many wonderful ink possibilities would match this pen. I would recommend using Monteverde’s Sweet Life Mango Mousse for a yellow ink. As for the delivery of this ink, the Wild Honey Fountain Pen is equipped with a smooth steel nib. Choose from: fine, medium, 1.1 stub, and V-flex nib sizes.
Finally, in Stipula’s attention to detail, you will instantly be drawn to their carefully engraved cap band and clip. Both are iconic to Stipula’s pens, and the clip shows their wheat grass design at the bottom of the clip. Despite my earlier mention of this being a substantial fountain pen, the Etruria Wild Honey is not a heavy pen. It’s merely large and well-proportioned. Importantly, this is the perfect balance of size, shape, and heft.
