TWSBI Eco Transparent Yellow Fountain Pen

When we think of affordable everyday use fountain pens, I’m sure there are a few brands that may come to mind. One of the great “go to” brands is TWSBI because of their hands-on approach. What I mean by that is TWSBI makes their pens easy for us, the end user, to completely disassemble, clean, and reassemble. TWSBI fountain pens are also some of the best sub-$100 fountain pens out there. When you want a quality piston filler or vacuum filler for the price, these just can’t be beat. The new TWSBI Eco Transparent Yellow Fountain Pen is a great example.
First of all, as the name of their mid-range tier might suggest, the Eco is exactly that – economical. It’s very economical at $33. Yet you’re not sacrificing quality for that price range. The Eco is durable and easy to use. That’s why I’m really excited about the TWSBI Eco Transparent Yellow Fountain Pen. You get a new color choice in such a great line.
Secondly, speaking of color options, the Eco line comes in: Black, T (has a triangular grip section, cap, and piston knob vs hexagonal on the regular Eco) Clear, T Mint Blue (Special Edition), Clear, Lilac, Transparent Blue, Transparent Green, Transparent Purple, White, Smoke Rose Gold, White Rose Gold, Jade (sold out), and now the new Transparent Yellow. With so many options, there’s surely something for everyone.
As for the nib, it’s a smooth steel nib. Choose from: extra fine, fine, medium, broad, and 1.1 stub. Since the Eco uses a piston filling mechanism, I recommend filling the Eco Transparent Yellow with Monteverde’s Sweetlife Mango Mousse ink. I think this ink matches beautifully.
Finally, there are a few main distinctions that set the Eco apart from other TWSBI’s. To start, the clip is hollowed out in the middle and is more flat. Another difference is that the cap and piston knob are both more opaque with color. On the other models, the grip section and internal mechanism bear the pen’s colors. As you can see from the pictures, this TWSBI Eco Transparent Yellow Fountain Pen is a beautiful addition to the line.
