Visconti Crystal Dream Fountain Pen

Visconti Crystal Dream Fountain Pen

Visconti pens are known for being higher end, luxurious writing instruments. They have everything from “everyday carry” pens to limited editions that will make you drool. The limited editions use more precious materials, get hand-crafted, and sometimes even meticulously painted by hand. These pens get different themes to make them so unique. Even the mid-range and EDC pens from Visconti incorporate painstaking attention to detail. When the Homo Sapiens first launched many years ago, it was groundbreaking. Since then, many inspirations continue to follow. The newest is the Visconti Crystal Dream Fountain Pen.

As part of the Homo Sapiens family of pens, the Crystal Dream continues innovation. Still retaining the original size and shape of the pens, the material changes slightly.

In addition to the, now signature, basaltic lava from Mount Etna catalyzed with nylon resin that covers the cap and most of the barrel, we now also get to see inside the pen with a clear resin.

One area of clear resin sits comfortably just above the grip section. I like how it allows you to see when your pen is almost out of ink. The collection name, “Homo Sapiens”, is imprinted along that ring. The back end of the barrel also features the clear resin, so you can easily see your ink sloshing around beautifully as you write.

The knob of the power-filler is still the traditional lava/resin hybrid, which I also like how that balances out the pen.

Keeping the original bronze trim really adds to the classiness of the Visconti Crystal Dream Fountain Pen.

Also, you can’t go wrong with the incredible power-filler and massive double reservoir. Filling this pen couldn’t be easier with one-handed action. Few things are more satisfying than feeling that “clink” when snapping the knob shut to activate the vacuum filling system and seeing the ink shoot into your pen.

Finally, the next big change from the original Homo Sapiens is the nib. Originally, the Homo Sapiens launched the use of Palladium in nibs (the first of its kind). Now, we bring you back to using an 18k gold nib. To me, both feel great to write with. Yet there’s something aesthetically pleasing to having a gold nib that matches the bronze trim. Also noteworthy is the wide variety of nib choices. Choose among extra fine, fine, medium, broad, and stub. While we offer all five nib sizes, please keep in mind that specialty nibs may take longer to get.
