Visconti is thrilled to announce the launch of the new Visconti Medici Briarwood Pen Collection. The Medici collection has been redesigned and draws on the best of Visconti’s historical heritage and DNA, enriching it with valuable new features such as a new demonstrator central ring, made with the skeletonization technique, which features the official emblem of Florence, the lily. This symbol, found on the city’s coat of arms, represents beauty, nobility and pride. As a fundamental element of Florentine culture and tradition since the Middle Ages, it has been represented in paintings by numerous Florentine artists such as Sandro Botticelli, Leonardo da Vinci and Michelangelo Buonarroti as a link between Florence and artistic beauty.
First of all, the Visconti Medici Briarwood Pen Collection is inspired by the geometry of the Florence Baptistry. The pen’s shape was designed following the principles of the golden ratio.
The central ring is just one example of the enhancements made to this historical collection, which is a part of Visconti’s heritage. The loading system now features a capacious power-filler double reservoir and the clip, which was previously laser-engraved, has been replaced with a new enameled version.
“But the thing that makes Florence incredible is that it doesn’t rest on its past greatness, it continues to inspire new thinkers and artists.” -Marcel Proust
The Medici rulers of Florence were influential patrons of the arts, who fostered a culture of creativity and innovation in the Renaissance period. The Visconti Medici Briarwood collection pays homage to this important dynasty by crafting a collection of luxury pens that embodies the spirit of artistic excellence and elegance that the Medici family represented.
Above all, the pen is made of Acrosilk. Acrosilk is an innovative material first introduced by Visconti. Notably, it consists of a compound of acrylic resin and silk fibers. For a more contemporary look, this special acrylic blend has been sandblasted. Therefore it achieves a fine satin finish giving the look of finished wood grain.
The pen comes in two elegant versions. Similarly, both feature briarwood-colored resin. However, they differ in their metallic trims that are either ruthenium or yellow gold plated.
Finally, the Medici Briarwood fountain pen features Visconti’s 18kt gold in-house nib. Either it will come with yellow gold or ruthenium plating. It’s available in extra fine, fine, medium, broad, and stub widths. The collection is also available in rollerball and ballpoint. The rollerball refills with Schmidt 888 and/or 5888 rollerball refills. Enjoy your favorite Monteverde Parker Style ballpoint and/or gel refills in the ballpoint pen. It’s equipped with a smooth twist-action retraction that you’re sure to enjoy.
