Visconti Van Gogh Old Vineyard With Peasant Woman

Finely crafted Italian pens are loved by so many pen users (such as myself). Visconti pens have withstood the test of time by releasing countless amazing, creative, and colorful writing instruments. One of the most notorious models from Visconti is the Van Gogh series. The Visconti Van Gogh pen collection has undergone several generations of change over the years. It’s very similar to how the artist, Vincent Van Gogh, experienced several periods of transformation in his artwork over the years. The most recent is a special edition called the Visconti Van Gogh Old Vineyard With Peasant Woman.
Of course, as Van Gogh is recognized as perhaps one of the most important painters in art history, Visconti continues to pay tribute to him through re-imagining his colors and textures in this series. The last few months of Van Gogh’s life was spent in Auvers-sur-Oise (a small, quiet town just north of Paris). He often went out into the countryside to work in the open air, and paint landscapes with cottages and rural scenes.
In his painting “Old Vineyard With Peasant Woman”, Van Gogh began the painting of a vineyard with a pencil drawing. Then he added oil paint and watercolor in many different shades of blue. He painted some of the roofs red, but they’ve faded to brown since. Because he left large areas of paper blank, the color white plays a large role. Much like the painting itself, the Visconti Van Gogh Old Vineyard With Peasant Woman is largely made of several layers of blues, with a white undertone, and the tiniest hint of reddish-brown.
How many facets can you fit on a pen before it becomes smooth? With the Visconti Van Gogh, we know you can fit at least 18 distinct facets on the cap and barrel. I love how this provides a unique angle and image with each turn of the pen. It’s almost like you’re seeing 18 different color scenes in a very long panel. Importantly, since the Van Gogh is made with a high quality vegetal resin, you are also getting a great depth and mixture of colors. No two finishes will be the same, which makes each piece even more unique.
Importantly, this Van Gogh Old Vineyard With Peasant Woman is available in all three modes: fountain pen, rollerball, and ballpoint. And I love how they all come in a gift set with an exclusive gift box. A reproduction of the painting is printed on top of the box, and also on a special edition bookmark. The fountain pen comes with a bottle of special edition Visconti Charcoal ink. Not to mention the nib, available in fine, medium, and broad, has a “Van Gogh style signature” engraved on it. The rollerball retains the same metal grip section as the fountain pen, and uses Schmidt 888 refills. The ballpoint has a smooth twist-action retraction, and uses our favorite Monteverde Parker Style ballpoint/gel refills.
