Classic Pens gave a donation to the Pushkin Prizes for each pen sold.

CP3 "Iliad & Odyssey"

The third limited edition in the Classic Pens CP series, is the CP3 Homer Pens Iliad & Odyssey. It was the fruit of the cooperation between Classic Pens, Aurora and Murelli. The series was launched in 1995.

The epic poems known as the The Iliad and The Odyssey are among the greatest works in the whole of world literature. They are also among the oldest, dating from around 700 B.C. and are ascribed to the figure who has passed into history under the name of Homer.

The Iliad chronicles the Trojan War, believed to have been fought around 1250 B.C. Homer’s work immortalizes the conflict, and has made it the most famous in Western culture.

Iliad - Achilles, supreme Greek hero - The poem commemorates the leaders of this heroic age, the rival heroes, Hector and Achilles and the passion of Paris, Prince of Troy, for the Greek queen Helen, whose face in Marlowe’s words, “launched a thousand ships”.

Odyssey – the journey home -

The Odyssey, in contrast, is a hymn to the resourcefulness, ingenuity and tenacity of the human spirit.

It charts the ordeals and adventures of Odysseus, known to the Romans as Ulysses, as he makes his way home from the siege of Troy.

Oddyseus’ eventual safe return bears testimony to the strength and durability of the bond which exists between a man and his family, a man and his homeland.

The model chosen for CP3 is the Aurora 88. Aurora Due S.R.L. has been producing quality writing instruments in Italy for more than 75 years.

The model 88 was launched in 1947 and was designed by the acclaimed industrial architect, Marcello Nizzoli. It featured a refined piston-filling mechanism, and an advanced feed system which facilitated improved and regular in flow.

Today, the large 88 model incorporates an ingenious hidden reservoir system which allows the pen to continue writing for at least another page after the ink has apparently run dry.

This sophisticated mechanical innovation has won the 88 a place at the “Leonardo da Vinci” Museum of Science and Technology in Milan.

For more than four decades the “Glorious 88” has been used and treasured by pen lovers worldwide.

The traditional art of guilloche engraving has adorned fountain pens for many years, and has been passed down through the generations.

Today master craftsmen of the distinguished Murelli R S.A.R.L. company in France harmonize this art with computer technology to produce exquisite engravings.

CP3 Iliad - The strength, assertiveness and purity of this Diamond Spirale design reflects the virtues of Achilles, the supreme Greek hero

CP3 Odyssey - The elaborate complexity and ingenuity of this Flamme pattern symbolizes the resourcefulness of Odysseus.

These exquisite patterns were created through the fruitful cooperation between Murelli and Classic Pens exclusively for the CP3 series.

The CP3 series of Homer pens bears witness to the imaginative originality of Classic Pens, the fastidious craftsmanship of Murelli and the technical precision and expertise of Aurora.

The Aurora 88 CP3 Homer Pens are produced exclusively for Classic Pens in a single worldwide Limited Edition of 500 pens of each design – Iliad and Odyssey.

Every pen is hallmarked with the sterling silver assay mark of the London Assay Office – the world accepted standard.

The CP3 series of Homer Pens reflects the Classic Pens policy of devising new and original designs which enable writing instruments to transcend their function and become future heirlooms.

CP4 "Washington & Richmond"

The fourth limited edition in the Classic Pens CP series is the CP4 Civil War Pens Washington and Richmond. It was the fruit of the cooperation between Classic Pens, Sheaffer and Murelli. The series was launched in 1997 and remembers the American Civil War 1861-1865.

The American Civil War was the most shattering trauma to have been experienced by the United States in its entire history. In four years of conflict, between 1861 and 1865, more Americans died at the hands of other Americans than were lost in all the nation’s other wars combined.

The Civil War represented the coming of age of a previously young, naïve and idealistic country. Its poignancy and its tragedy lay in the ferocity with which families were torn apart, friends and relatives pitted against each other, old allegiances and loving attachments to the land uprooted.

The end of the struggle heralded a national rebirth and resurrection – a new direction for the United States as a whole, which was to transform the nation beyond all recognition. American development acquired a dynamic new momentum, which, by the end of the century, was to make the United States one of the world’s major powers.

Sheaffer’s history began in 1907 in W.A. Sheaffer’s Fort Madison, Iowa jewelry store. He sought a new filling system for fountain pens that would be simple, clean and an improvement on other filling methods of that period.

In the decades since, the company’s commitment to quality and innovation has fueled its quest to produce some of the world’s finest writing instruments. Sheaffer is known for many innovations, including filling systems such as the Touchdown and Snorkel, the inlaid nib introduced with the PFM in 1959 and the White Dot.

In 1959, Sheaffer introduced a dramatic large – profile writing instrument known as the PFM, or Pen For Men. The PFM was the first Sheaffer fountain pen to feature the now famous inlaid nib. It employed the exclusive Snorkel filling system which, like the Touchdown system allowed for clean filling without dismantling the pen.

Sheaffer’s flagship Legacy Pen, combines the big, bold styling of the PFM with precision engineering and convenience demanded by today’s most discerning fountain pen lover. Introduced in 1995, the Legacy fountain pen is distinguished by the wide – bodied barrel which tapers elegantly to a chiseled end.  The general proportions of the instrument are evenly balanced to provide a comfortable grip.

The sterling silver Legacy fountain pen conforms harmoniously to the design details and quality associated with the Classic Pens CP series of Limited Editions.

The inlaid design of the nib exposes the solid gold, thus enhancing its beauty while at the same time providing a firm yet flexible response.

The traditional art of guilloche engraving has adorned fountain pens for many years, and has been passed down through the generations. Today master craftsmen of the distinguished Murelli R S.A.R.L. company in France harmonize this art with computer technology to produce linear patterns in which the lines of engraving run vertically down the pen body.

Circular guilloche patterns are formed with the lines of engraving running horizontally around the pen body. They are very distinctive, substantial and of exquisite beauty, but, alas, are virtually unobtainable today. It is just such circular engravings, however, which impart the strength and complexity to the American Civil War pen. A celebrated circular  engraving machine dating from 1928 was reactivated from the museum of Murelli and was used exclusively to produce the patterns of the CP4 pens.
On this machine, each pen is individually guilloche engraved with the fastidious attention to detail characteristic of the Golden Age of machine engraving.

CP4 Washington - The density and complexity of the Washington Vague design reflects the North’s diversified culture, urban development, industry, railway system and ethnic variety. The regularity of the pattern suggests the precision and organization of a society heralding the modern Age and the variety of the United States today.

CP4 Richmond - The sinuous fluid grace of the Richmond Moire pattern evokes the majestic, lazily flowing rivers of the South and the gracious elegance of Southern society. The soft waves of the pattern reflect the South’s foundation in organic agriculture and the relaxed rhythms of nature.

These exclusive patterns were created through the fruitful cooperation between Murelli and Classic Pens.

The CP4 series of Civil War pens bears witness to the imaginative originality of Classic Pens, the fastidious craftsmanship of Murelli and the technical precision and expertise of Sheaffer.

The CP4 Legacy fountain pens use the famous Touchdown filling mechanism. Developed and introduced by Sheaffer in 1949, this filling system employs a pneumatically filled ink sac. The filling device empties, cleans and refills the pen in a single downstroke of the plunger. To suit modern taste, the Legacy fountain pen can also be refilled with cartridges.

The CP4 Civil War pens Washington and Richmond were planned as a limited edition of 1865 sets, the year the Civil War ended. In view of Bic taking over Sheaffer just prior to the launch of the series, an agreement was reached by Classic Pens and Sheaffer to produce just 500 sets worldwide. The CP4 pens are therefore more exclusive.

The CP4 series is official and carries the Sheaffer Warranty for the Legacy and after sales service. A certificate of authenticity by Classic Pens, giving the individual Limited Edition number accompanies each pen.

Certificate of quality from Sheaffer and Classic Pens accompanies each CP4 pen.

The pens are housed in quality hand made gift boxes specifically designed for the CP4 series. They are also accompanied by the CP4 brochure.

CP5 "Vintage & Modern"

The fifth limited edition in the Classic Pens CP series is the CP5 Celebration Pens Vintage and Modern. It was the fruit of the cooperation between Classic Pens, Parker and Murelli. The series was launched in 1999.

The CP5 series pays homage to the original Duofold of the 1920s, as well as to its modern expression. Therefore, the edition is offered in two distinct but complimentary forms of the Duofold Centennial, the CP5 Vintage and the CP5 Modern.

The Parker Duofold series from the 1920s to the present is, in my opinion, the most important celebrated tradition in the history of the fountain pen and its industry.”  Andreas Lambrou

The Parker Pen Company, is today an international dynamo producing and marketing a range of quality writing instruments. The continuing success of this prestigious pen manufacturer reflects the philosophy of its founder George S. Parker: “Make something better and people will buy it”.

Since its formation in 1880, Parker has produced a wide range of writing instruments many of which have become classics, they are enjoyed and collected by pen lovers around the world. The early pens like the Forget-me-not and the Snake (c.1900), the Swastika as Indian good luck symbol and the Aztec (c.1910), are just a few examples.

The caps and barrels of the CP5 Duofold pens are completely covered in sterling silver and are adorned with a gold plated trim. The cap tassie, cap band and barrel button are crafted out of solid sterling silver – a first for the Centennial model.

The CP5 Vintage with its straight form, celebrates the famous Lucky Curve Duofold pens from the 1920s. A distinctive circular engraving machine, dating form 1928, was re-activated form the museum of the distinguished Murelli R.S.A.R.L. company in France, exclusively for the guilloche engraving of the CP5 Vintage.
On this machine, each pen is individually guilloche engraved with the fastidious attention to detail characteristic of the Golden Age of machine engraving.

Circular guilloche patterns are formed with the lines of engraving running horizontally around the pen body. They are very distinctive, substantial and of exquisite beauty, but, alas, are virtually unobtainable today. It is such a circular engraving, however, which imparts the strength and complexity of the Moire pattern to the CP5 Vintage.

The CP5 Modern, with its tapered ends, symbolizes the rebirth of this famous name in the current Parker range. Using moden computer technology for linear engraving, as well as Murelli’s craftsmanship, the exquisite Fishnet engraved composition has been developed which reflects the most advanced state-of-the-art concepts in contemporary design.

CP5 Vintage - The circular guilloche engraving of the CP5 Moire pattern is evocative of the Golden Age of machine engraving.

The Fishnet pattern of the CP5 Modern reflects the most advanced state-of-the-art  concepts in contemporary design.

These exclusive patterns were created through the fruitful cooperation between Murelli and Classic Pens.

The CP5 Duofold series bears witness to the imaginative originality of Classic Pens, the fastidious craftsmanship of Murelli and the technical precision and expertise of Parker.

The CP5 Celebration pens Vintage and Modern were planned as a limited edition of 1888 sets, the year Parker was formed. In view of Gilette selling its writing division, including Parker, to Newell Rubbermaid Inc. in 2000 just after the launch of the CP5 series, an agreement was reached by Classic Pens and Parker to produce just 500 sets worldwide. The CP5 pens are therefore more exclusive.

The CP5 series is official and carries the Parker Warranty for the Duofold and excellent after sales service. A certificate of authenticity by Classic Pens, giving the individual Limited Edition number accompanies each pen.

CP6 "Marguerite & Charlotte"

The sixth limited edition in the Classic Pens CP series is the CP6 Goethe Pens Marguerite and Charlotte. It was the fruit of the cooperation between Classic Pens, Pelikan and Murelli. The series was launched in 2002.

The theme chosen for the CP6 series is Goethe. The guilloche engravings of the two pens, Marguerite and Charlotte were inspired by his works, Faust and Werther.

In the 1800s, Weimar became the cultural center for Germany and later for Europe. The Weimar Republic started the movement “Sturm and Drang” (Romantic Movement) which launched European Romanticism. Literary figures in Europe like Byron in England, Pushkin in Russia and others followed this movement. Weimar became the center of Art, Music, and Literature.

The writing of Faust spanned more than 60 years. The work is a unique record of Goethe’s personality, from youth to old age, in all its richness and diversity. The powerful work can be viewed as a depiction of the personal journey of Faust towards enlightenment. He makes a bet with the devil that he will be allowed to live as long as the devil fails to satisfy his striving for transcendence. Most significantly, Goethe makes the second half of part I into a love tragedy. Faust seduces Marguerite (Gretchen), an innocent young girl who embodies for him the transcendent ideal that he seeks.

At the end of part II, Faust spends his old age reclaiming land from the sea. Satisfied that he is working for the benefit of humanity, he renounces magic and dies. Divine Grace, however, saves his soul, which is shown ascending in pursuit of an ever receding ideal embodied once more in Marguerite – das Ewig-Weibliche (the eternal feminine).

The autobiography of Goethe describes one of his emotional entanglements. In Wetzlar in 1772 he met Charlotte (Lotte) Buff and fell in love with her before discovering she was engaged to his friend, Johann George Cristian Kestner. The period 1771-1775 contains the first flowering of Goethe’s genius. His most famous work is Die Leiden des jungen Werther (The Sorrows of Werther).

Young Werther traces in a series of letters written to a friend, the course of his love for Lotte, who is already engaged to a solid young Officer. Mislead by the warmth of her friendship, but most of all by his own intense imagination – which project upon Lotte all the ideals garnered from his reading of Homer, Goldsmith and Ossian – Werther gradually looses touch with the world around him and finally shoots himself. In this paradigmatic novel of eighteenth century sensibility Goethe describes the first romantic love associated with emotion and passion.

In 1929, Pelikan launched its first fountain pen, the No.100. It featured a differential screw thread, driving a piston up and down a transparent barrel. The mechanical parts were produced with uncompromising precision, a tradition Pelikan continues to this day. The Pelikan Souveran pens have proven to be the most reliable in the German market. Many of the vintage Pelikan pens are today loved and collected by pen lovers all over the world.

Art and science working in harmony. The unique blending of classic design and state-of-the-art technology has made the Pelikan fountain pens legendary throughout the world.

The tradition for which Pelikan is famous for, continues today. It is the strong commitment to the very best in design engineering coupled with a dedication to beauty and craftsmanship that makes the Pelikan fountain pens a joy to hold and a pleasure to use.

The canvass for the CP6 Marguerite is the Souveran M1000 and for the CP6 Charlotte the Souveran M800. The caps and barrels of the pens are completely covered in sterling silver, a first for the two Souveran pen models. They are adorned with a gold plated trim.

CP6 engraving machine from Bertrams Inkwell

A hand engraver dating from 1927 was reactivated from the Murelli museum. On this machine Marc Murelli, crafted the Mosaique design completely by hand. The engraving process is labor intensive and very lengthy but the result is a magnificent guilloche pattern, unequalled by modern methods. And since the Mosaique pattern is completely handcrafted, every CP6 Marguerite in the series of 500 pens is a little different from the rest and unique.

On this machine, each CP6 Marguerite pen is individually guilloche engraved with the fastidious attention to detail characteristic of the Golden Age of machine engraving

Using modern computer technology for linear engraving, as well as the craftsmanship of Murelli, the Cascade engraved composition has been created exclusively for the CP6 Charlotte. The exquisite cascade pattern reflects the most advanced state-of-the-art concepts in contemporary design.

CP6 Marguerite - The density and complexity of the Marguerite Mosaique design, has some uniformity, it is pleasing and relaxing to the eye, but at the same time it is powerful. All these elements identify the great poem “Faust”, especially the final part which suggests contentment, order, regularity and comfort.

CP6 Charlotte - The sinous fluidity of the Charlotte Cascade pattern represents “Werther”, a novel describing the first romantic love, and associated with youth, emotion and flow of passion.

These exclusive patterns were created through the fruitful cooperation between Murelli and Classic Pens. The CP6 series comprises just 500 CP6 Marguerite and 500 CP6 Charlotte fountain pens world wide.

The CP6 series bears witness to the imaginative originality of Classic Pens, the fastidious craftsmanship of Murelli and the technical precision and expertise of Pelikan.

The CP6 Marguerite and CP6 Charlotte are official. The pens are accompanied by the Pelikan Warranty and after sales service.  They are authenticated by a certificate from Classic Pens specifying the edition and individual limited edition number for each pen.

The pens are housed in quality hand made gift boxes specifically designed for the CP6 series. They are also accompanied by the CP6 brochure.

CP7 "Pacific & Atlantic"

The seventh limited edition in the Classic Pens CP series, is the CP7 Ocean Pens Pacific & Atlantic. It was the fruit of the cooperation between Classic Pens, Sailor and Murelli. The series was launched in 2003.

In 1911 Kyugoro Sakata founded the Sakata Seisakusyo company in Kure, Hiroshima perfecture. Two years earlier, his elder brother, Saijiro, won a prize for his gold nibs at the National Industrial Exhibition. Sailor has faithfully continued this tradition of excellence and has raised the standard to new high levels with the recent nib designs by Mr. Nobuyoshi Nagahara.

With a strong Naval base at Kure, early advertisements with the comic character Popeye and a young girl dressed in a sailor’s uniform enhanced marketing and sales.  The Sailor profit model was launched in 1983. It has a streamline shape and over the years has enjoyed immense popularity.

The theme chosen for the CP7 series pays homage to the great oceans and continues the tradition of the Sailor pen company.

The CP7 Ocean Pens Pacific & Atlantic are based on the Sailor 80. They are fully covered in sterling silver, a first for this pen model.

The traditional art of guilloche engraving has adorned fountain pens for many years, and has been passed down through the generations.

Master craftsmen today harmonize their skills with the most advanced state-of-the-art technology to create exquisite compositions in contemporary design.

CP7 Pacific - The sinuous fluid grace of the Pacific Moire Vague pattern evokes the soft waves of the majestic and sun blessed Pacific Ocean.

CP7 Atlantic - The density and complexity of the Atlantic Flamme Vaguedesign reflects the somewhat turbulent nature of the Atlantic Ocean.

These exquisite patterns were created through the fruitful cooperation between Murelli and Classic Pens exclusively for the CP7 series.

The CP7 series is very exclusive. It is offered in a single world-wide edition of 250 CP7 Pacific and CP7 Atlantic fountain pens.
