The Kaleidoscope II is a warm, thoughtful evolution of one of Brian Gisi’s most admired designs. Crafted by the skilled American maker behind the original Kaleidoscope Limited Edition, this version honors the creative spirit of its predecessor while introducing a distinctive new signature detail.

At the heart of the Kaleidoscope II lies a beautifully banded, hand-built resin structure. Rather than relying on cast or molded materials, Brian begins his process with individually cut segments, meticulously assembled into a continuous geometric pattern. This painstaking work starts long before the pen ever reaches the lathe—each segment must be perfectly aligned and bonded, as even the slightest shift can affect the harmony of the overall design.

This approach draws on advanced segmentation techniques, blending resin, wood, and delicate inlay elements. Every piece is carefully cut, layered, and joined into complex blanks. Only after this intricate assembly are the blanks turned and polished, revealing a seamless flow of color and pattern that feels alive and organic. The result is a design that feels integral to the pen—woven into its very structure, rather than simply sitting on the surface.

A special touch that sets the Kaleidoscope II apart is its clip. This edition features a handmade sterling silver clip, elegantly shaped with the Gisi logo and secured by two individually crafted brass screws. It’s a small detail, but one that infuses the piece with a sense of character and craftsmanship you rarely encounter.

Each Kaleidoscope II requires over 100 hours of hands-on work, all completed by Brian Gisi in the United States. From preparing the segmented materials to the final polish and assembly, every step is guided by care and intention. Many different skills—precision, patience, artistry—come together in each pen, and you can sense that dedication in the finished piece.
