The Pineider Ancient Material fountain pens evoke the golden era of writing tools, highlighting classic Pineider design elements cherished by pen collectors. This recent release not only showcases these beloved features but also introduces a captivating celluloid discovery, enhancing Pineider's timeless elegance.

These fountain pens boast two exquisite celluloid colors complemented by palladium trim. The iconic Pineider quill feather marine steel pen clip features a slightly elongated design, and the magnetic cap and post add a touch of sophistication. Utilizing a piston filling system, each pen is equipped with a Quill nib in 14 kt gold 585 hyperflex. Removing the cap reveals a series of ink windows, allowing a glimpse of the pen's ink level. This limited edition collection is restricted to just 288 pens per color.

Crafted from non-flammable celluloid sourced from a unique discovery initially intended for eyewear, these pens represent a remarkable find for Pineider. Despite the thinness of the materials typically suitable for eyewear, Pineider employed forgotten 1920s techniques to create a stunning collection with identical characteristics, paying homage to the roaring twenties.

Celluloid and its family possess exceptional qualities, such as unrivaled durability, showcased in historic advertisements from the twenties demonstrating pens being thrown from planes or into the Grand Canyon to emphasize their virtually unbreakable nature. Furthermore, the rich and diverse colors offered by celluloid remain unparalleled by any other material.

Originally used to mimic natural materials like tortoiseshell or ivory, celluloid designers have unleashed their creativity, producing thousands of effects limited only by their imagination.

The creation of celluloid pens historically involves four primary techniques: spiral wrap (spiral winding), funnel straight (funnel closure), flat mold (two-part seed press), and solid block methods. The curing time for celluloid spans 3 to 8 months, after which the material is stabilized and the drying phase is complete. Once the celluloid becomes workable after the curing stage, another month is required for part fabrication. The intricate process, coupled with the decreasing availability of celluloid, has limited options for pen collectors and writing enthusiasts.
